National Employer Reference Group – Julia Whitton from Classic Holidays (Video)

Julia Whitton, Resort Manager at Sand Point Beach Resort on the Gold Coast, gives insights into Classic Holidays’ Work Inspiration program

Julia Whitton represented the Gold Coast as part of the National Employers Reference Group which was established by the National Community of Practice in May 2018. The NERG represents a wide range of industries, locations and employers of all sizes to provide a diversity of views on youth unemployment.  The National Community of Practice fosters innovation and the NERG demonstrates the power of collective effort in addressing youth unemployment. The meeting provided the opportunity to bring together the expertise and contribution of industry and employers and combine this with the efforts of the community sector and government.

The National Community of Practice are working to visually capture employers on film to recognise, highlight and share on a national scale what is working well in local areas in creating pathways to employment for young people in a way which invests in young people’s skills, talents and aspirations.

In this video Julia, Resort Manager at Sand Point Beach Resort on the Gold Coast, gives insights into Classic Holidays’ Work Inspiration program. Classic Holidays are Australia’s largest privately-owned resort and club management company, and has helped its members enjoy affordable holidays for over 40 years. 

Classic Holidays’ Work Inspiration has had participation from over 400 young people in two to three day programs at local resorts and head office. Work Inspiration provides young people with exposure to the workplace, pathways into employment and increases their opportunities the community.

Gen Z Employment are the local Transition to Work providers on the Gold Coast. Julia and Classic Holidays work with Gen Z Employment to provide opportunities for young people through work inspiration, internships and employment.
